Lasting Change Through Clinical Hypnotherapy

All clients must first contact Amanda for a brief discussion and discuss the scope of services and suitability of hypnotherapy for their individual requirements. Access to online bookings will follow this consultation.
Understanding Addiction
Addiction is not a lack of willpower. It is a pattern – a deeply embedded cycle in which your brain has learned that a particular substance or behaviour provides relief, reward, or regulation.
Over time, that pattern becomes automatic. The craving fires before you’ve consciously decided. The habit runs on autopilot. The behaviour continues despite your genuine desire to stop.
Clinical hypnotherapy works at the subconscious level where these patterns are held – interrupting the automatic cycle and installing new responses that support lasting freedom.
How I Help
Quit Smoking
One of the most well-established applications of clinical hypnotherapy. We address the subconscious triggers, habits, and identity patterns that keep you smoking – not just the physical craving.
Alcohol Reduction & Sobriety
Whether you want to stop completely or reduce your drinking to a healthier level, hypnotherapy helps rewire the reward patterns, social triggers, and emotional regulation habits that drive alcohol use.
Vaping
Address the newer but rapidly growing dependency on vaping and e-cigarettes, including both the nicotine dependency and the behavioural habit.
Substance Use
Support for reducing or stopping use of other substances, working alongside your medical or psychological care team where appropriate.
Behavioural Addictions
Address compulsive patterns around food, gambling, screen use, shopping, or other behaviours that have become automatic and difficult to control.
The IBF Approach to Addiction
Through The Intelligent Body Framework, I work with the seven drivers that maintain addictive patterns:
Identity
“I’m a smoker” or “I can’t cope without a drink.” We update the identity that keeps the addiction in place.
Emotional Regulation
Most addictions serve as emotional regulators. We install healthier ways to manage stress, anxiety, boredom, and discomfort.
Reward Learning
Your brain has learned that the substance or behaviour delivers reward. We create new reward pathways that support your goals.
Immediate Relief
Addiction offers short-term relief at the cost of long-term wellbeing. We build the capacity to choose long-term freedom over short-term comfort.
Stress & Nervous System
A dysregulated nervous system drives cravings and impulsive behaviour. We calm and stabilise the nervous system so you’re not constantly fighting urges.
Environment
Triggers, cues, and social situations reinforce the pattern. We address environmental management and install new responses to old triggers.
Self-Efficacy
“I’ve tried to quit before and failed.” We build genuine confidence in your ability to change through experiences of success.
My quit smoking programme is one of my most popular services. Most clients quit in 1-2 sessions.
The programme addresses:
- Subconscious triggers and associations
- Identity as a non-smoker
- Stress management without cigarettes
- Social situations and peer influence
- Weight gain concerns
- Long-term maintenance and relapse prevention
“I booked hypnotherapy sessions with Amanda to quit smoking, release past trauma, and create healthier relationships and habits. Amanda’s calm and professional approach made me feel supported.”
– Adriano T.
- Want to quit smoking or vaping
- Want to reduce or stop drinking alcohol
- Have tried to quit before without lasting success
- Recognise that willpower alone isn't working
- Want to address the root cause, not just the symptom
- Are ready for permanent change
- Want to work alongside other treatment providers
For severe substance dependency requiring medical detoxification, please consult your GP or specialist addiction services first. Clinical hypnotherapy is most effective for addiction when the person is medically stable and ready to engage in behavioural change work.
I work alongside medical and psychological professionals where appropriate. Hypnotherapy for addiction complements other treatment – it does not replace medical care.
If you are unsure whether hypnotherapy is suitable for your situation, please call for a confidential conversation.
